I cannot tell you much joy I feel as I introduce you to my newest little baby, Sparrow Creative Studios. I’m so<\/em> excited to give you an update on me, my life, and to share my little creative shop with you. It’s been quite the ride, but I’m finally ready to let you know all about Sparrow’s beginnings<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For years, I’ve been dreaming of owning my own creative services company. Up until 2020, imposter syndrome, fear of failure, and imposter syndrome and fear of failure kept telling me I couldn’t do it. As luck would have it, 2020 hit me (okay, all of us<\/em>) super hard and I found myself in a position where I had a choice to make: keep looking for jobs I knew would\u00a0 never make me happy, or make up my own rules.<\/p>\n

I chose to make up my own rules.<\/h2>\n

I was very fortunate, because in the early phases of wondering, “Should start a company?” I had several people reach out looking for copywriting and marketing help. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their support. I’ll be giving them lots of love in the coming days, because I’m genuinely thrilled to be doing the work that I am for them. And I know without a doubt that if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be here today. I am eternally grateful for their support!<\/p>\n

As I stewed over this concept, I was thinking non-stop about what I wanted my business to look like. My mind kept swirling around my grandmother. She passed away in 2003 at the age of 91, but she gave me a lifetime of love and wisdom that I still think about daily.\u00a0 The word “Sparrow” kept coming to mind because of her love of the song “His Eye is on the Sparrow” and the more I looked into sparrows<\/a>, I knew that needed to be the name of my shop.<\/p>\n

I finally landed on Sparrow Creative Studios<\/a> with the concept that this shop isn’t just about me. It’s about all of my network. I’m not doing this alone. “Studios” speaks to that partnership I have with others to bring our work to life.<\/p>\n

Next in Sparrow’s beginnings came the branding. I was in love.<\/h2>\n

I hired Felicia Koloc<\/a> to tackle my vision. She’s an insanely talented designer and illustrator and somebody I respect on so many levels. When she came back with my logo, I was mesmerized. (Full disclosure: That means I cried.)<\/p>\n

Felicia heard what I said about my grandmother and about how I want my network to function. She also somehow read into things I didn’t even mention. She came back a hand drawn sparrow, stars to symbolize the dream I have. And the most incredible thing? A willow branch. In her research, she found sparrow love willows. What she didn’t know was that my grandmother’s house had a giant willow in front, under which I would lay and daydream. It all came together beautifully.<\/p>\n

Sparrow Creative Studios wouldn’t be here without several mentors who have encouraged me along the way. I have to say thank you to Martha Littleton<\/a>, who continues to be my biggest cheerleader. If it weren’t for my friends Kelsey Kimberlin,<\/a> Laura Dean<\/a>, Nicole Sampson, and Shannon Clark<\/a>, I probably wouldn’t have this company at all. A huge thanks to my clients and partners for making Sparrow’s beginnings a reality (more on them very, very soon!). And thanks especially to my husband and kiddos for believing in me and saying, “You’re worth this.” Though let’s be honest… The kids are more like, “Can you quit working now so we can go play in the mud?” and owning my own business means that I get to say yes\u2014sometimes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
