If you haven’t heard of glamping (glamorous camping) you should definitely familiarize yourself with what it’s all about and then hit the road to check it out for yourself. This luxury camping trend, which is just now hitting the U.S. in a big way. When Dennis Steinman of PlainsCraft Covered Wagons first contacted Sparrow and explained what he was doing with his small business (building a 1800s-era covered wagon to be a luxury overnight accommodation), we were instantly sold on growing their company.
PlainsCraft is largely a B2B company with a focus on selling into glamping parks or campgrounds, so one of the first things we did was develop a brochure for the numerous outdoor hospitality trade shows they’d attend. We partnered with Chris Millspaugh Design, an insanely talented designer and illustrator we adore working with, and who had previously developed the PlainsCraft identity system. With some initial brainstorming, Chris came back with different ideas for the brochure, and Dennis selected a rugged yet handcrafted brochure that matched the PlainsCraft brand.
The brochure copy tells the story of the brand and what makes it so unique to the market: it’s built not far from where the Oregon trail began, it’s different from anything else that’s out there for glamping options, and it’s a custom-built piece of Americana that will help a business grow. The line, “Let’s build something together” speaks to the goal PlainsCraft has for both its business and those that choose them for their locations.
It’s designed to look like an old leather-bound journal and wrapped in a leather strap to match the wagon’s handcrafted feel. The line, “Let’s build something together” speaks to the goal PlainsCraft has for both its business and those that choose them for their locations.
